115: Would you prescribe?

Pediatric refractive error can often be a life sentence. From high myopia to anisometropic amblyopia, knowing when to prescribe and what to prescribe early on maximizes the chance of a child’s success. Hyperopia also requires knowledge of strabismus, accommodation and when to say “no.” Most importantly, high refractive error in a child may be the presenting sign of systemic or developmental delay. As such, the optometrist stands to be the first in line to help a child get on the right path. Attendees will consider real clinical cases with known outcomes and provide their prescribing perspectives in this highly interactive setting.
